There are certain people who refuse to stop using electronic equipment, tools or utensils in general for the rest of humanity have outlived their usefulness. Well thanks to people like this we can enjoy this song played by floppy drives.

The particular song is Still Alive by Jonathan Coulton and out in the credits of Portal, one of the best I’ve seen in a videogame. But of course some credits are in line to play, an eloquent game with a very distinct style and constant irony. And now Sammy1Am made ??possible touch with floppy drives.

For those who do not know what a floppy drive could be defined as ‘pen drives’ of 10 or 12 years ago. With a little niggle, whichwere 720KB and 1.44MB yes, you read that right I have no wrong.

One of the highlights was the noise emitted to read and write to the drive, and that’s what our friend Sammy1Am been used to make the subject of Portal . That and a Java application to control the floppy as instruments through which it can reproduce a MIDI file .

I find it fascinating the ability of people to have this kind of occurrences. And I thought that the disk drives were dead and missing .
