Huawei Mate 40 Pro scored 104 points in the test, more than any other smartphone.
The DxOMark benchmark site selected Huawei Mate 40 Pro as the smartphone with the best selfie camera. The phone’s selfie camera scored 104 points in the test, more than any other smartphone. Huawei Mate 40 Pro is equipped with a 13-pixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. DxOMark pointed out that even in low light, the camera can provide good facial exposure, and the “simple fixed focus solution” worked well in the test.
DxOMark stated in its review that the selfie camera of Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a wide dynamic range, which is useful in backlight situations where the background is brighter than the subject and other high-contrast scenes. The comment pointed out that the subject can be well focused in close-up shots and at a certain distance from the arm.
DxOMark stated that the colors of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro selfie camera are “the most beautiful” and provide a good white balance in low light. It added that the selfie images clicked on the phone showed good detail and exposure. DxOMark said that although the people behind are slightly out of focus due to the use of a fixed focus lens, DxOMark said that the phone’s camera will automatically switch to ultra-wide mode.
In addition, it added that the display flash of Huawei Mate 40 Pro can provide good exposure in dark conditions. In portrait mode, the camera can create portraits with “simulated bokeh and blurred background that look very beautiful.”
Huawei Mate 40 Pro was launched in October 2020. Previously, the phone also ranked second highest in DxOMark with a rear camera of 136 points. It has a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor with f/1.9 aperture, a 20-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, and a 12-megapixel camera with f/3.4 aperture.
At the same time, Huawei P40 Pro ranked second in DxOMark’s list of smartphones with the best selfie camera with 103 points, while Asus ZenFone 7 Pro ranked third with 101 points. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G ranked fourth and fifth respectively, and both scored 100 points.
