World travelers find themselves in Toronto real estate

Sometimes unexpected things will take you to take bigger risks and improve your life. I am always curious about why someone leads a path instead of another, why they choose certain occupations and what prompted them to choose this friend or partner. I like to hear people tell stories about how they succeed in life and how they succeed. Even before I know your name, I will blurt out “So, how did you come here?” The human mind is very charming to me.

So I was surprised recently that when I explained my life to someone, I was asked the same question: “So, how did you get here?”

I started thinking about what led me to where I am today. Years ago, real estate recruitment was the last place in the world I expected to find myself. I am a travel consultant, traveling and exploring places that many people have never heard of. Every month, I live in a different country and experience life in a way I never imagined. But all good things must end, and for me, travel begins to lose its brilliance. I started to think about other career options.

Considering my background, psychology or social service related fields may be an obvious choice, but instead, I got an OREA license and turned into real estate sales, determined to be one of the most successful real estate agents.

guess what? I hate it! In the middle of the night, I tried to reach an agreement. On the eve of Christmas, I drove the snow four hours back to the GTA, showing several homes. Working on most nights and every weekend: real estate sales are not my cup of tea.

It took me a long time to discover that real estate sales are not for me. But I never thought about going back to travel. I am very tenacious; I chose real estate, so real estate is like this! I did find that I like the administrative aspects of the real estate business: research, organization, support team! I realized that I can eat cakes and eat them. The administrator allowed me to still participate in all real estate transactions, just from a different perspective: preparing the home for sale; ensuring that all necessary documents have been purchased. I can still maintain a healthy work-life balance!

Fast-forward ten years (including the same team for seven years) and career changes reappeared. This time, a real estate agent suggested that I call the niche AGENTS to see if they have a position that is suitable for me. Instead, AGENTS recruited me to work for them. As they say, the rest is history.

Today, I am fortunate to be a member of a cutting-edge company. The owners lead by example, empowering and encouraging their team members to expand their imagination, be responsible for everything they do, and most importantly, don’t be afraid to take risks, but instead, “Error” becomes a successful learning experience.

So how do I get here? By not being afraid to take risks and accept change at any time, but most importantly, by fortunately encountering intuitional pioneers and mining the surface to discover the treasures that others ignore.
