Agra is known as the city of Mughal Forts of India. It has most of the monuments was not built by the Mughals. Mughals ruled over Agra for centuries. Agra was the capital of the kingdom of Mughal for around 200 years. There are two main museums in Agra. The first one is the Taj museum and the second one is The Spiritual Museum of Agra. On the same day Agra tour by car, one of the museums is surely going to be on the itinerary. If you visit the Taj Mahal in any case, you will be able to see the Taj museum.

The Taj Museum

The Taj Museum is especially famous for the documents that present the history of the construction of the Taj Mahal and the photo fanatics. The visiting time of the Taj Mahal is from 09:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M. You can’t visit the Taj Mahal on the Museum on Friday because an awesome religious ceremony that takes place on the afternoon of Friday. The Taj Mahal is basically near the mosque with the tombs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan in the basement. You can stay inside the Taj Mahal for around 2 hours.

The Taj museum can be seen as soon as you enter the Taj Mahal in the West direction. The Taj Mahal was built in 1932. The Taj Museum was built between 1899 and 1905. Divorce another ruler called as Khan Bahadur Hassan, who modernized the museum. There are 3 galleries inside the museum.

There is a lot of calligraphy in the first gallery. Calligraphy was a form of writing which was the most admired by Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan has used calligraphy in almost every monument he has got built. There are many carvings in the Taj Mahal which have a beautiful display of calligraphy. There are some household items which were used by the Mughals during that reign. Some of those items are bowls Lotus vase, porcelain items, celadon dishes, jade articles, etc. You would be really amazed to know that celadon is a material for a compound which can change its color if any kind of poison is served in it. It was for the safety of the kings and the royal family that they used celadon dishes. In case there was poison in food captain celadon dishes, it would have been easier to identify whether the food is safe or not. Apart from household items, you will also be able to get the arms and weapons of the Mughal culture.

The Second Gallery of the Taj Museum

The second gallery of the Taj museum is full of paintings made up of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The paintings are of varied sizes and shapes. These paintings are made up of different kinds of objects or material. There are some very rare paintings which are made up of ivory, the teeth of the elephant. There are two types of paintings. There are big paintings and small paintings again. The small paintings are called miniature paintings.

The third gallery also has a number of paintings like the second gallery. These paintings are only and only related to the Taj Mahal. It gives various details and pieces of information. The most important document which is on display is the site plan of the Taj Mahal before its construction. It has been more than 400 years. The documents have all the steps of building the Taj Mahal. This Museum is a lavish one. You will find gold and silver coins of the Mughal Empire and these coins were minted in Akbarabad.

In the Taj Museum, there is one main room. In the Taj Museum, there is one main room. This main room has many things as the name has already suggested to us. There are manuscripts of Chechel Majlis of the 17th century. The special thing about this manuscript is the signature of Shah Jahan on it. There is also the royal seal of the Mughal Kingdom during the reign of Shah Jahan. There are Royal documents related to the information of the court. You may also find the paintings of the Taj Mahal which were made during the 18th century. You would like to know that there used to be a fruit auction and the main room has the documents related to the auction. This fruit option was of the output from the Taj Mahal Garden. So there were fruits produced in the Taj Mahal Garden and then those fruits are sold as though in an auction. There are also documents related to the grant of the land. There are some copies of the documents which explained how the Makrana white marble was supplied from Rajasthan. There is a map which can tell you all the places from where the precious stones were imported or bought. There are some of the samples of the stones which were used in embellishing the Taj Mahal. You can see all this in just one day from Delhi to Agra by car.
