If you have a book and you want to transcribe some parts of a computer, you can also avoid tire yourself. In fact there are programs that you avoid this work. Simply scan the page and a program will recognize the characters and turn them into text. The latter can easily paste it on Word or Notepad.

They are called OCR, or optical character recognition, and works with the printed books. But beware: not recognize italics, and commits many errors even on texts written in capital letters. So you should not use it for your handwritten texts.

http://www.simpleocr.com/Download.asp  more lightweight program that allows, in addition to the usual functions to activate an automatic correction with suggestions from dictionary, to correct any errors in translation.
