It was June 26, 1898. Ferdinand Porsche had just 22 when he entered the factory Jakob Lohner & Company , which mainly produced carriages for royalty. On this particular day of June, Porsche revealed its first car, the Lohner-Egger , also known as the model C.2 Phaeton , but go down in history with a much simpler name: P1 , that is, “Porsche 1 ” . In addition to being presented as a“horseless carriage” , the P1 had an outstanding technical detail: It was electric . 78 miles of range and a top speed of 33 miles per hour established the main parameters of P1, but both values ??were compromised by the 1,800 kilograms acid battery that the car needed. The P1 participated in a competition of electric cars in September 1899, which finished first (carrying three people) 18 minutes ahead of the second car. A year later he was exhibited at the World Fair in Paris, and by 1902 his trail was lost … until now.

112 years later, the Porsche P1 has been rediscovered in the shed of a farm located in Austria. With more than a century old, we must recognize that their condition is far more acceptable than anyone might expect. Still, Porsche decided to move its located in the museum district of Stuttgart and present it to the public without any restoration . The only thing that was added to P1 is an acrylic structure to indicate the original location of the seats. The pioneer has returned home, and rest with other company icons like the Porsche 356/1, the first car made by “Ferry”Porsche.
